The Turkish Flying Buggy Offroad Series Round 1
After the Indoor 1/10th Offroad Ratrace Winter Series, we had our first 1/8 Offroad Buggy series race.
We had some strange problems before we started our season. Ciddiamator, who organized our previous races and did a really good job, when the 1/8 season was going to start in 7 days they said we are giving up organizing races. That decision made everyone disappointed but Serdar Aytemiz (My Sponsor, Serpent Turkey Distributor) with RatRace.net (Tom How) and Snappy Raceway (Işik Alem) saved us from that situation. The first race weekend was very tiring for everyone because Electric buggy (Saturday) race and Nitro Buggy race (Sunday) was held on the same weekend.
I had no chance to make training for the race at all I had a really busy week at work and I had nearly no chance to prepare both of my cars for the weekend. I started maintenance one day before the electric buggy race. Although late I was able to finish both of my cars.
1/8th Electric Buggy (Saturday)
We started the race with a hot day, but overall I had no problems. I was able to try the new Sweep Cubix Tires in that race. Pin type of that tire not commonly used as I see in other country races. At the beginning of the day I started with Sweep Square Armor tires when we started to qualify I put Sweep Cubix tires on my car and that tire made the car have really progressive side bite acceleration was really amazing and I went with Cubix until the end of the day. I set up the car for the day and I really didn’t need to change anything about the setup overall. The car felt really amazing I got TQ and I finished the race in 1st position and I beat my own track best time record by less than 1second. We had 3 finals and I got the 1st place first 2 of the finals.
1/8th Nitro Buggy (Sunday)
After an exhausting Saturday I was ready for the nitro race. My 811 had a different suspension setup then the electric 811 car it is a little bit softer in the front. At practice the car is a little bit hard to drive because it was always frisky in the corners and out of the corners then I went to thicker oil in the front and everything changed I started the day with Cubix tires which felt really good but the day before the track got damaged and corners had bad holes, with the damage to the track I decided to go with Square Armor tires and problem solved 🙂 . In the first qualify I had a transponder reading problem after 5 laps The race director told me that my transponder was not working after that this put a bit of pressure on me for the grid of A-main. After solving the transponder problem the rest of the qualifying rounds went perfect for me and I got TQ.
For the final I went with my 15min used tires because I saw that I didn’t need to change them. 45min passed without a problem. I finished the race 1 lap ahead of 2nd place driver.
Thanks Ahmet Şepçi (who made awesome pit stops for the rest of the race)
Thanks to Serpent for the bulletproof 811 cars.
Getting the double at the first races of the season was fantastic for me and my sponsors.
King Regards and see you soon.
