England: Thurston wins 1/10 BRCA Nats with Serpent 748-WC. Team mate Zottl takes 2nd place, Owen 3rd !
Here is my report from RD2 of the 1/10th British champs.
This weekend was RD2 of the British National championship with my 1/10th Serpent 748-WC. All weekend my car has been really good like it usually is. A few tweaks here and there and my car was running a good pace in qualifying getting some clean runs while making notes on tyre wear and fuel economy but unfortunately having a few little awkward issues in RD3 and 4 of quali meaning I could only get 3rd on the grid for the final. Just a second back from 1 and 2.
The final came round after a bit of a wait, and it was under way, with tyre strategy being a huge part in this race with some having to do a tyre change (left rear was approx 3.5mm loss after 7 minutes) but I was able to bide my time from 1 and 2 who both had plans for a tyre change (I had tyres ready but didn’t really plan to use them).
As the final went on there was a guys who dropped out and others were on and off the track, we stuck to our plan and with some super smooth driving and great pit stops I was able to win by a nice margin to the rest of the field.
Also a big congratulations to John Zottl after a 6 month break was able to bring a 2nd place home with his Serpent 748-WC and also racing Veteran Mark Owen for driving a consistent race and taking home the 3rd spot!
Thank you to all my sponsors!
Next race is at ENS Rucphen next week!
See you soon!
