We had the final race of the Team NCRC Winter Season. Not only that the championship was at the grasp of couple people, we also had some surprises.
Serpent Türkiye Driver Mustafa Alp was in points lead coming in to the last race but due to his final exams he couldnt attend the race. there were quite a few of the high point guys were not in attendace as well due to either work or exams. Which placed 2 runner Ferhat Çağlıoğlu at a great advantage for taking the race. and the Championship title. All he had to do was win the race.
This time we prepared early and arrived at the track a day ahead for preparations. I started testing couple settings that we thought would work well. For some strange reason the car just refused to loose tweak. and was driving very awkward. finally I tear everything out and started ,nspecting every part and found out that my chassis was warped. The poor thing finally gave out due to my “Terrible” Driving Skills. I was running my servo shoegooed to the chassis so I had to pull that out then started the nightmare. My shoegoo was dried out so I had to tape the servo down. but after couple of practice runs I noticed the car will not track and the steering was sluggish as the servo was moving around. I how ever did manage to TQ with all the trouble. With Ferhat right behind me.
I then managed to find a replacement case for my sevo and fixed the steering coming in to the first A-main. I won the first main with a lap ahead of the field almost making 24 laps at 5:01.xx. only a handful people managed 23 laps. so it gave me a great advantage.. Second race started I got bumped at the start but it actually launched my car forward and I was able run away from the huge pile up behind me that consumed Ferhats car as well. by the second lap I was already lapping people and at the 3rd lap I lapped the whole field with a huge grin on my face knowing that I was only couple mins away from a certain win. Then I was reminded that knowing and actually doing it are two different things. at 2 mins mark I had a 2 lap lead but at the straight away my car bounced and I hit the wall that complete the wrecke dthe rear end of the car effectively ending my race… So all was left to the last race.
Frantically repaired my car but in that mayhem I forgot to adjust the droop. in race 3 it was total caos. Again I got tapped but this time it was well placed When I was able to return to the race I was in 10th place. I picked up the pace to reach back up but the car was very very erratic. I dont even remember what happened as ı was concentrating to keep the car under leash. managed to roll couple times. At the end I went to the table where people were congratulating me which made no sense to me as for me I drove really bad, but it turns out that I managed to pass all but Ferhat and came is 2nd place. So if the race was counted on laps Ferhat would have won but they use a point Scheme in the RCM program and uses best race to resolve ties. So we both had 308 points, The first race gave me the big advantage and put me in to first place with a very small margin.
I managed to finish first With Ferhat Second. That of course effected the championship points and placed Mustafa at first place and Ferhat again at second place. It was very close racing with luck being on my side.
