Victoria and I headed down to the event early as weather looked great for the weekend and this also gave us the opportunity to get in a bit of practice on Saturday.
After taking some advise from Paolo at the previous event we were able to run similar lap times even though track conditions were significantly warmer and grip was lower than previous event three weeks prior.
Qualifying started out well and we were able to TQ each of the three rounds on Sunday and would start final from P1.
The start of the final was confusing as I started from P1 and led the first few laps but the announcer stated I was last?! At some point they were able to fix the computer glitch and I was now in the lead on track and in the scoring system. Tire wear was extremely high and a tire change was not practical. It was going to be very important in the 30 minute final to manage tires. Victoria’s pit work was excellent and efficient we were on a 5minute strategy and aggressively conserving tires thru the first two stints but still able to maintain a comfortable lead.
The Serpent/Novarossi/Enneti/Tornado Fuel combo worked perfect for the full 30 minutes leading every lap including the most important one…Last one!
Special thanks to Desoto Racing/Serpent/Novarossi/Enneti Tyres/Tornado Fuel.
Cheers,
Jamie and Victoria
