2012 Singapore GP Open – May 26 and 27
Last weekend we had a great race in Singapore with drivers from Singapore, Thailand, USA, Indonesia and Malaysia, all together 60 drivers in 1/8 class and 53 in 1/10 class.
Special thanks to Singapore RCMC for hosting such a great event, everything runs smoothly and the lunch pack are great

Friday practice:
For me after my break from 1/8 onroads running 1/8 buggy more lately, i was struggling with the speed and handling a bit.
The last time i race in this track was 5 years ago or longer so i’m like a newbee here
The fast guys are running high 17 or low 18 sec laps and i’m running 19 secs, after some setup changes, i’m able to improve my lap times but still not as good.
So the plan will be stay smooth and stay out of trouble…
Saturday Qualifying:
In racing not everyday everything will go as plan, i didn’t do so well out of all 3 qualifying runs.
Had some mistake here and there so i qualified quite badly on 34th
The car was getting better and more track time for me help a lot too.
So the plan will be the same and bump up all the way from 1/8B all the way.
The final format is a Christmas tree with no sit outs. So i still have a chance to make it to the A finals.
Sunday final:
Late night rain wash out the track and flooded the track in some areas. Thanks to RCMC crews everything got under control and get the track ready for some action by mid day.
Today everything goes according to the plan for me
Thanks to Mr Pason Phua Serpent Singapore who share some setup tips and info to me and i make the changes to my car making it easier to drive faster
From 1/8 B, I took the win and bump up to the 1/4 B and i took 2nd to make it to the all important Semi Final….
During the Semi, i know i have a chance to make it through, my car was great just still not as fast as the top guns. I just have to hit the mid 18 secs more consistently.
But my 2nd gear gave up not even 5 min thru the 20min Semi. Well i’m not going to give up yet, i kept pushing the car in the infield and kept myself out of the way in the main straight.
I finish 7th, still have a chance as top 5 driver from both Semi A and B will make it and the last 2 spot will combine both result.
I got through making the last spot. So time to prepare the car for the 35min A final
In the Final i kept calm and didn’t push too hard as tire wear is very high and drove a very clean final and got 4th in the end.
Overall I’m very happy with the result with my 966TE. Congrats to Nicholas Lee 1/8 GP TQ and Champion also driving a Serpent 966TE
Many Thanks to SERPENT Malaysia, Novarossi Engines, Matrix tires, MAX Racing Product and TOUGH Racing Product for the great great supports.
Best Regards,
CK Lee
