Nitro challenge hockenheim

We had 4 fantastic days at the track in hockenheim. But it was also very busy, because we all 4 guys were driving there. Veronica and klaus in 1/10 hobby cup, franziska 1/8 hobby cup and i drove with my 966te the nitro challange…

First days was free practice. On thursday morning we started with 15 min free practice in the 4different categories. But that practice was not good because most drivers had no possibility to drive. The driver stand was only for 12 pilots allowed; and they decided after lunch time to continued with group practice 7 minutes for each run. I think that was fine for everyone, and finally i could drive.  In  the morning i could’t find a free place….

With my 966te i felt really good, also my engine works fine, i tested some different set ups, and i tried with my hot race tyres the different shore.

Saturday morning we started with 3 qualifications. First heat was good for me, and i was at 7th place. But for the other 2 rounds i could’ t go faster. My day finished on 11th position, that means semifinal a at 4th starting position, because at the driver meeting they decided to race with top 4 tq qualifier…

My dad was at 3rd place with his s733, his best heat was the last one so he was directly in the main-final. Veronica had always some problems, only the last heat was ok and she ends with her s733 at 13th place. Franziska did with her 966 a great qualification, she could finished at 14 position.

So we had time to prepare our cars, and at 19pm started the dinner in the hotel, it was organiced by shepherd mirco racing and the buffet was really good like last year… We had really a nice evening, with some free beer and a big tv beamer on the track for watching the socker match…

Sunday morning we started at 9amwith ¼ finals and ½ finals…. Each final run 20 minutes; only main-final will be 45 min.

Veronica`s final was really good, she was always between ¾ place, but suddenly flamed out her engine – very strange!!! Ok we restarted her engine and she falt back at 5th place, but after few laps she got again the 4th position, few minutes later stopped her engine again…. And she lost one lap, that was really pity for her, because the race was finished for her

Franziska was the next one. She made a fantastic 20 minutes final. She come in the main-final

Next was my semifinal. Start was really very good, i was after the first corner on second place behind merlin depta, behind me michael salven… We were only few seconds behind. With the fuel stop my dad was super fast, but after 16min flamed out my engine at the fuel stop and my glow plug was broken. My mechanices changed it and i could start again, but i was already at 4th place. But my thought was only to go in the mainfinal… But than… After the straight my engine flamed out again…. And i had to stop the race, i must finish on a very pity 17thplace in the ranking.

The final of my dad was really good in the beginning… He was always on a save second position…. But then also he got some problems and his engines needs always more and more fuel… He stopped 2 times with a empty fuel tank at the track, and that costs a lot of time, he had to finished with a sad 4th place…

1/8 final hobby cup: franziska did a good start and always between 5-7 position. 30 minuts of final can be very long, but she was doing a good job and in the end she finish at 7th place. Think she was really happy with her result

Fazit: weekend was great; perfect organisation (let´s hope that we have next year a few more challenge races);  nice weather because forcast was even more bad; i could learn again a lot and lets hope that my luck will be next time better
