Last weekend we had our Nationals rnd 2 at İzmir Efmod track. I was too busy racing Virtual Rc before the race, hoping to have a good result at Race2theworlds. On friday night I used all of my runs(came 3rd overall) and On saturday morning started 570km trip from Ankara to İzmir by bus! I didn’t even prepare my car for the race, it was as is after ETS race. After 8 hour trip, I arrived at the track, missing 5 of the 6 controlled practises. İzmir was really hot at the weekend, reaching 38C air temperature and over 60C track temperature. It was very hard on tires and power package. Luckily I didnt have any problems with Sweep EXP tires&Sweep EXP glue which proved to be durable over 5 minute run. As far as power was concerned, my car was one of the fastests at straights with very safe temperatures with hobbywing speedo&Speedpassion MMM motor.

We had 31 drivers attending to the race, and I started qualifiers in 2nd heat. At first Qual I TQed with a 0.3 second gap over 2nd place. It was a very lucky TQ, as car setup was out of balance and I just tried to complete 5 minute runs without pushing the car to the limit. Before 2nd Qualifier, I changed my setup and put some new tires. My car was much faster that I now TQ ed with 13 second gap to 2nd place. Except 4th qualifier, my other quals were also TQ and I was starting on pole position for Sunday’s finals.

For final I prepared a set of Sweep 40′s as we now had extremely high temperature at finals time. With fresh rubber, I dominated the first main with lapping the entire field. Before second main,at warmup, I realised that my car was extremely loose, something which I still havent figured out why. So I needed to drive very conservatively not to spin out and lose place. Race started with lots of pressure from behind. I kept calm and waited for other drivers to make mistakes.On fifth lap, I made a mistake where Kayhan Ketenci took the lead. On the same lap, he slowed down because of a tire glue failure, which forced him to retire after couple more laps. Rest of the race I cruised to take the 2nd main as well as overall win.
