Here is a small race report from yesterday Southern 1/8th Buggy & Truggy Super League – Round 3.

Thanks to Southern Alley management and crew for hosting another great event. Total 100 over drivers attended the race, 

I have a great weekend racing with my both powered Cobra 811 buggy and truggy.

 

Practice on Sat was good for both cars and manage to get a nice feel on the car and track..

Then the rain came and stopped, we headed for lunch and get back to the track to try out the semi wet and getting dry track surface..

My lap times was on pace with the fast guy so very confident with my package and ready for the race on Sun.

Qualifying went well, we were bless with nice sunny weather for the whole day.

After 3 round of qualifying i manage to qualify 2nd place for Truggy.11th place for Buggy overall into Semi A car 6.

Happy with the result, time to get ready for the finals.

TQ car BH Gan was very fast from the start but had to retire early due mechanical issue,

Leader car to 5th all within same lap and changing position on fuel stops,

Then leader car David Aw had some issue and had a long pit stop and back to 4th,

 I was holding the lead my engine flame out and join back at 3rd

Then leader car Dato Lim had a steering rack trouble and have a long pit stop fixing the car and join in back 4th.

At this point David Aw in the lead, I was in 2nd same lap, Alexius Lee 3rd 1 lap down and Dato Lim another lap down in 4th.

After my 2nd refill i had another flame out so i know my engine is either rich out on me or the filter is abit choked.

With about 10 mins to go i have my super pit man YC Chong lean my engine abit and refill my tank to push till the end.

David have another fuel stop so i gain back some few secs, i can see his car being not far in front…

 and around last 5 min he had a mistake and i pass him for the lead. Right until the last 2 laps i had some minor mistake and he was just 1 corner behind me.

The fight was right until the last lap and we both have some small mistake and I’m still in the lead.

Right till the last corner my fuel ran out and i roll cross the line and i hear the sound my transponder did clicked… hahaha what a final…

Now for Buggy finals schedule from 1/16 all the way to the semi, the race format is no sit out so everybody have to bump at lease once…

I qualified in the Semi A 6th. In a 20min Semi, with all the fast guys… i had some mistake and 1 engine cut equal to no chance to make the final…

I guess i used up my luck during my Truggy final… I’ll try harder next time

and 2nd Chan Kim Hoi (Xray/ Sirio/ Max Racing) and TQ, 3rd Didier Perrin (Mugen/ Nova)

Overall I’m very happy with my package.

Next race FEMCA Buggy 2012 Pattaya… lots of preparation to do… should be fun
