Merlin Depta with 966-TE on top of North Germany
The last round of the German regional championship took place in Munster. The race was said to become enthralling. All in all three youngsters, such as Lars Hoppe, Merlin Depta and Timo Schroeder, had almost the same score for the overall ranking and the chance to take the title of the north German regional champion. Having won the last two rounds, it was an easy game for Merlin, who had just to debar both other aspirants from winning.
Starting from one Merlin had Lars in his back, pushing right off from the start pretty hard. While Lars flipped his car at the end of the straight over a curb where he also broke his engine, the gap to second spot increased. Merlin hitting engine issues again, his Serpent 966 stopped on the main straight. Only Timo Schroeder left, facing the title, but also he flamed out, which paved the way for “1/10th guru” Ralf Krause, who won in front of Friedrich Roehrs and Timo Schroeder.
The overall result was
- Merlin Depta – Serpent 966 – MAX Power
- Lars Hoppe – Velox – SONIC
- Timo Schroeder – Velox – Novarossi
