Race Report DAC 1/8 Buggy Charity Race
Last weekend ( end november 2016) I was invited to a 1/8 Buggy Charity Race in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We arrived Thursday evening. Friday started out with free practice until the rain arrived at about 4pm. I made a couple of runs and my package with Cobra SRX8 car and Maxima engine and Proline tyres was working really good.
Saturday was Qualifying day, original 5 Rounds were scheduled, but it was cut short to 3 Rounds with the best 2 counted. I was able to qualify 2nd overall, behind current World Champion David Ronnefalk.
For Sunday the weather forecast looked not so good, we arrived at the track in the morning and it rained the whole time. The lower finals didnt even started yet. At around 10am it stopped to rain and the lower finals started. Until my semi final started, the track had grooved up perfectly again. I was able to qualify for the 60 min main final. I borrowed a used set of Proline M4 tires from a friend for the main final as I didnt bring any M4’s.
It was the right choice as my car was very good. I could follow David closely for the first minutes until I took the lead. After that it was a fantastic battle between Hara-san and me, we changed position for the lead several times. Later, David was in the mix as well and it was a 3 way fight for the lead. Very nice for the spectators. In the end David took the victory, I was 2nd and Paphon in 3rd place.
It was a fun race, everyone was very helpful. Thank you again for Dato Adriano for inviting me to that race and I hope I can come next year again. Thanks to Vanesse for taking care of everything for all of us:)
See you next year:)
