Wonderful race at the IRC arena in Åtvidaberg. We were a few Project 4x drivers and the car seemed to do very well at the narrow technical track. There was no question who was fastest, Wilck was 1 lap faster than the rest of us for 5 minutes. Andres Johansson and Lukas Knutsson who also drive Serpent was close to make it to the A-main.
At the Friday’s open practice Wilck and I tested out a softer front suspension. He drove a shorter rear end than I did so the softer heva spring made his car feel smoother meanwhile my car got more hard to handle. Before qualification I changed my car to a shorter rear end to but stayed with the standard springs.
Since the track was narrow, tight and technical and very unforgiven it was all about not making any mistakes. In the qualifying it was very even between me and Marcus Von Elling about the 2nd spot. In the last round which was my fastest I made a mistake in the last minute and lost the 2nd spot. We continued to be very close even in the finals. In leg 1 i managed to overtake Marcus by a mistake he made and finished 2nd in the first run. In leg 2 I managed to pass after only a few corners at the first lap but unfortunately I got hit by a back marker just a few turns from the finish line and finished 3rd in the run. At the last run I made an early mistake and the battery fell out so I had to DNF and finished 3rd overall.
Really fun battle with Marcus Von Elling who is a very experienced and talented driver. The race overall was well organized and the track was actually pretty fun even though it was very narrow. The car felt amazing, really succeeded with the setup for this race.
