8th/9th April was the 1st round of the British Championship for 1/10th With the Serpent 748-WC at the Cotswolds circuit. From the start of the day my car was really good. I tried a few things on my car and it got even better, on 1 fast lap I knew I wasn’t the fastest but my average lap was super good and consistent.
Qualifying for me it was about making the final near the front of the grid to set myself up for the final. I ended up qualifying 3rd on the grid. After a bit of an action packed start everyone broke off into there own groups. I was in a comfortable 3rd place until the leader who was Mark green at the time had a crash which cost him some time and put him behind me! That was where our race battle started, we were fighting for a long time back and forth making overtakes sometimes 3 or 4 times per lap! It was crazy! Meanwhile while we were battling for 2nd place the race leader had an incident this then put me and Mark fighting for the lead. After the last pit stop Mark came out behind me like we were before. He went inside, outside, hard into the corner, slow into the corner but I had him covered off. With just a few minutes remaining Mark tried to overtake but hit a kerb and went off track with left me an easy coast to the end of the race where I would take the win some 8-9 seconds up the road from Mark, Fellow Serpent driver John Zottl completed a Serpent Podium lockout to take a fantastic 3rd place!
RD2 is 3 weeks away at Halifax track!
See you trackside soon!
