Friday, March 31 free practice, very sunny morning with variable climate , rain in the afternoon, track with medium traction and a bumpy surface… time to work in car setup.
Saturday, April 1, rain washed away the traction compound, we raced three qualify heats and placed the track record, my 748 WC, is running strong progressively and constant.
While trying to finish the last heat and make the pole my car flamed out there’s not enough fuel to reach the five-minute mark. Saturday was a great day and the Clay’s Hobby Shop pit crew is really happy with a good result and we are well-positioned for the big final.
Sunday morning, race day!! All pilots are racing the semi finals. The A Main is at 1 PM, due to temperature changes my brother Kenneth and my cousin Luis are working out a smart tire strategy , to them I owe my deepest thanks and their amazing job at the pits…what a team!
The race starts!! First laps I get hit in the rear several times and it put me in the back of the pack…but after 10 laps I managed to take the lead for more than 20 minutes placing a great rhythm and almost no mistakes. I managed to have a two lap lead and the car was running really strong. I have to mention that all the pilots were very professional and never obstructed my pace even though I was faster than them. The 45 minute race finished and we managed to take the first place, Serpent is the new owner of the Copa del Istmo 2017.
We wish to thank everyone that was following the race and I’m sure everyone put in some good vibes in order for this amazing experience to be enjoyed
