The 4th round of Czech Nationals
Another race of Czech National series was held this past weekend in Skřipov. The race entries were about 50 cars in both categories. So the competition was tough. There were 10 Serpent cars in racing field. On Friday afternoon we participated in free practice before the race. We set up our cars for this really tight and bumpy track.
On Saturday there were 3 rounds of qualifying and then triple finals for Ebuggy category and lower finals and main final for ICbuggy category. For qualifications the track crew watered the track, so we were running in a bit wet conditions with good grip around whole track. In Ebuggies we got 3 cars in the A-main with Jiri Mara on the 4th spot, Marek Ornst on the 5th spot and Vaclav Broz on the 6thspot. In Nitro category 3 Serpent cars went straight into the semi-finals with Jiri Mara, Frantiske Kalenda and Petr Klatovsky.
For the final rounds the track became super dry and track crew decided to not water it anymore. We were struggling with finding setups for our SRX8 Cobras for this rapidly changed conditions, so we ended with just getting nylon inserts from all of the arms out to get more traction. From the triple mains in Ebuggy category went Jiri on the 4th place, Marek on the 6th place and Vaclav on the 7thplace. Top 3 spots of B-main were all Serpent cars with Tony Hybler, Jakub Hybler and Jan Domansky. In the nitro main went all 3 Serpent guys from semi-finals. In the final Frantisek had big issues with engine so he finished the 13th, Petr Klatovsky finished the 10th and Jiri Mara after big mistake on the first lap recovered to the 3rd place, where he stayed to the end.
Unfortunately it was one of the worst nationals so far, so heads up and we will be stronger and faster next time.
