My trip started on Thursday morning heading Hamburg to pick up my nitro friends Simon and Silvio. I told them about DHI cup before so that they decided to come over for a weekend of fun with electric touring car. We went to an amazing permanent indoor carpet track in Hamburg/Hasloh for a practice day. In the evening our journey went on with Odense as our final stop.
Check-in – driver registration – bed.
Friday practice went well, a little bit stressful with the two classes Modified and SuperStock that I ran. With the handout tires my car felt okay on the track but there was some pace missing to the top. I went to a harder diff from 3K to 6K and worked a little bit with different flex combination by adding or removing screws in different top deck positions and the motor mount.
When more traction came up on Saturday and the tires started wearing in, my 4X-EVO’s were more and more easy to drive. I decided to go into the race and just improve my driving. What bothered me most was missing power in SuperStock. In the infield there I felt a huge torque difference to some other guys in my heat but also to the last group. I still have to check where this came from, maybe just a bad rotor or motor.
I put my cars on 4th in the B-Final in SuperStock and 8th in the C-Final in modified. With clean driving over the 5 minutes I improved my position to a 3rd place in SuperStock. In Modified I had some tougher finals with some crashes and a DNF in my last round so that I ended up 8th place in my final.
After last year with a podium finish in SuperStock and B-Final in Modified, my result this year was not as good as I wanted. Anyway the trip with my friends Simon and Silvio was amazing! Funny time at the track, superb food and best evening planning with cold drinks. So I will definitely keep up the driving in TC and will come over to Denmark to be faster!
See you on the track.
