Joe Kerry wins British 200mm Nationals Rd7
Round 7 of the British 200mm Championship took place at the Colchester circuit. The weather was very good on both days with temperatures reaching 29 degrees on Sunday. The grip was surprisingly not that bad when the first cars took to the track which is quite rare in the UK. At the end of practice it was Serpent/O.S. driver Joe Kerry setting the pace getting down to 14.1 lap times. Shepherd/Sonic driver Andy Hastings headed the rest of the field around 0.2 seconds behind. At the end of qualifying Joe took TQ with Andy taking second and John Zottl third.

Due to the nature of the track the tyre wear was extremely high with some drivers even considering a tyre change for the 30 minute final. The final started in grid order with the top 5 cars all maintaining their positions on the opening lap. On lap 2 a racing incident saw Andy Hastings and Joe Kerry fall to the back of the field which left way for Pete Hastings to take over the lead. Joe quickly found his way back through the pack and was back in the lead before the first fuel stops. After the pit stops, Joe continued to extend his advantage at the front and focused on saving his tyres. Meanwhile John Zottl, Matthew Cook, and Pete Hastings all battled for second place. At the halfway point John lost his front belt which dropped him back leaving Matthew and Pete to fight for the seconc position. Towards the end of the race and Pete had completely run out of tyre so was forced to withdraw. In the very last minute John Zottl overtook Pete’s time to move into third. In the end Joe won 6 laps clear of Matthew in second, with John just holding on for third place by less than a second.

There are now just two rounds remaining in the British Championship with the title still up for grabs. The next race will take place at Snetterton on the weekend 7th/8th September.
Thanks to Joe Kerry for sending the report.
Hello Guys!! We are at this time kirchberg, Austria, for the EFRA European Championship 1/10.
After winning the Italian championship just last month, we arrived very motivated and very confident that the car would certainly be competitive throughout the week of the race, in fact it did. The race saw us always in the front along with other Serpent drivers as Mark Green, Greiner and Gruber.
Already during the controlled trials and qualifications it was noted that the race was balanced, we were all very close, do not admit mistakes.
After a good sixth fastest time in qualifying, where both the 747 car and the engine Max Power have demonstrated reliability and consistency in every qualifying heats, we realized that we could aspire to a prestigious result.
The semi-final was a replica of the qualifyng , everything worked out for the best, only a few unfortunate drawback led us to the pits starting in fifth position.
At the start of the final, thanks to the accident caused by Dankel who involved Daniel Ielasi and Biagio Spataro, we immediately started the fight with Dario Balestri at that time was the leader of the race. Thanks to the ease of driving the 747 car we always managed to keep a good pace without too much stress on the tires, allowing us to change them 5 minutes after everyone else, after 25 minutes of the race , thus earning the top spot. The tire change was perfect (red: fastest tyre stop of all ) , I thank my father and Fabio for the excellent work. Since the 20th minute of the race until the 45th minute we have always maintained the lead administering the advantage gained on Dankel to the finish.
An immense emotion, the result of much work on the track and so many sacrifices. The year 2013 ends in the best way with the title of Italian championships and European champions.
I wanted to thank the whole Team Serpent for the support they have always given me, Fabio Domanin (SRC), Massimo Fantini (Max Power), Runner Time and finally the person who has made all this possible, my father.
See you the next races!

Mazzeo 2013 EC Champion, and Mark Green 3rd; 2 x 747 on the podium. Great result for Team Serpent.
With 4 cars in the semi’s Serpent looked good for making a great result. Would have been great to see the 2 young guns Greiner and Gruber in the finals too, they did so very well in qualifying all week.
Alex Thurston took the Junior Title for Serpent with Jorg Tiit in 3rd also with 747. So both in senior and Junior a 1 and 3.
Qualifying friday Q3 and Q4:
Qualifying friday Q1 and Q2:
After 2 rounds Serpent has 3 drivers in the top 10. Gruber is doing superwell with a great 2nd run, placing himself 2nd , right on the tail of World and European Champion Groskamp. On P6 its Greiner from Germany, showing great pace too. Mazzeo dropped from 2nd to 7th after the 2nd run, but is very fast too. Green 14th, Pelaez 18, Lopez 21, THURSTON 28.
Mazzeo showed his great skill in the thursday sessions, ending the day in a great 2nd close behind Dankel. Gruber in 8th place doing very well too. The young guns are really fast. Then its Greiner in 11th and Green made progress with a 15th spot now. Fransson, Pelaez and Salven also inside the top-30 and improving step by step. Friday qualifying starts.
For Serpent Greiner is leading the pack, holding P2 after tuesday practise and in 6th its Gruber , so for Serpent the young guns are in control.
Mazzeo, Green, Fransson, Thurston, Lopez, Palaez, Salven, Alp are all looking good, just need bit more time to dial in. With around 20 x 747 in the race, out of 96 drivers, Serpent is again well presented.
Around 100 drivers, of which 20 with Serpent 747, among which Mazzeo, Green, Kerry, Salven, Fransson, Greiner, Pupke, Paleaz, Lopez
and more fast drivers !!
The euro’s will also be with Monobrand handout tyres , so supereasy for all drivers. No need to bring tyres, no tyre trueing, more equal chances, no tyre-oils.
We wish all a great race and await the images and reports.
Shown is the 747 from Salven, with set-up wheels only.
