We had a fun weekend at the Serpent Challenge at The Track in Gaithersburg Maryland! Serpent was able to take the top 5 spots in stock 2wd with the SRX2 MH. I was able be to tq and finish 1st, Gary Oehm second, Jim Lonzo third, Charles Bruno 4th and Bill Davis 5th. For modified 2wd Griffin Hanna took the tq and win with his SRX2MH. I was able to work my way up to second at one point but lappers got the best of me and finished 4th and Adam Johnson 5th. In 4wd mod, Griffin again took the tq but had some mistakes and traffic issues and would finish 3rd. Adam 10th. In 2wd sct Charles Bruno finished second and Bill Davis third. In the youth class Lillian Davis tqed and finished 1st! Thanks to all the serpent drivers who attended and Mimi Wong for the great place to race! This weekend is another serpent challenge at the rc clubhouse!!
We had a great day of racing yesterday at the Palmetto Classic held by BeachRC Hobbies! Brent Densford and crew built a great layout for this race. Alex Birmingham did a smooth job with running the program with just around 200 entries.
For qualifying, Griffin Hanna missed the first 2 rounds for the 4wd class,do to taking his SATs for school that morning! So with one run in 4wd, that started him 5th in the C main. He managed to win and bump to the B. After the 6min B main, he managed to grab another bump into the big show.
Griff was deep in the pack on the start but was able to work his way to the front and would battle with his Jconcept teammates Chris Pace and Brandon Melton! About mid ways through the 10min race, Griff was able grab the lead and take the win!!! We ran Jconcept Space bars in front and Dirtwebs in the rear, hooked up! Our Tekin RSX ESC and Tekin GEN2 6.5 motor was screaming. We made a few adjustments with the Tekin Hotwire and it paid off!
In 2wd he managed to catch 2 rounds of qualifying and would put him self,3rd on the grid. He had a few bad bobbles and over drove a bit but managed to finish 4th! Congrats to Landen Lewis on his win👍
This was our first big race with the new Serpent SDX4. The new car is flat out pretty awesome!
We recently just started running CRC batteries! Thanks to Mark Calandra😎
Also thank you to Tim Schurr for help

last week Gerd and Jörn attended the Sunpadow GP in Xiamen. Its the same venue which will host the 1/10 Electric World Championships later this year. The race was 1/8 Buggy Nitro and Electric. 2 days of free practice made for lots of track time. The track was very slippery and got bumpy at some sections. Overall the new SRX8E and SRX8 performed super good. We opted to run the block layout for the SRX8E as it had a better balance at this track then the saddle layout.
Qualifying went almost perfect with TQ ing 4 out of 5 Rounds in each class. It was really nice as the Nitro TQ made it directly in the 60min main.
I was able to win A1 and A3 in Electric class. The 60 minute Nitro main started out good, after 10 minutes I was almost a lap in front of 2nd place. We pitted at 8.45 which saved 1 stop from the other guys, thanks to my Maxima engine and fuel. After that I hold the same gap for the rest of the 50 minutes to take another win.
Perfect weekend with 2x TQ and 2x 1st.
Thanks to all my sponsors and pit crew who helped me all week.
Setup will be send shortly.
Griffin and I attended the 2nd annual Palmetto Classic race in Myrtle Beach SC. Hats of to Brent Densford, the owner of BeachRC Hobbies and his crew. Pete Funk also did a great job keeping the program rolling with a total of 154 entries. They gave out some of the coolest trophies.
Griff managed to TQ both 2wd and 4wd. Both were 10 min mains and he ended up with 2 wins.
In 2wd Braydon Obremski kept Griffin honest until he had a radio issue. Griff would go on to take the win after the 10 min main.
In 4wd we were worried a bit about making 10 minutes so we made a few adjustments with the Tekin Hotwire to tone down the esc. Our Tekin 6.5 motor was still screaming down the straightaway but the adjustments worked great. After the 10 min main the, temp was down and he had plenty of voltage left in his batteries!
Both Serpents once again worked great all day. We made a few small minor adjustments to the cars and it paid off!
We ran Jconcept blue dirt webs in the first round of qualifying. In the second round we went with a less aggressive tread pattern with traction up and Bar Flys worked great. He was able to secure both TQ’s after two rounds of qualifying. For the 3rd round we had nothing to loose so we tried a ghost pin tire. He went his fastest with them but they were very inconsistent, For the main, we went back to our trusty blue Dirt webs.
Thanks again for all the support from you guys. It wouldn’t be possible with out your help!
Thank you,Eric and Griffin Hanna
