Alp report:
Turkish EP Nationals Round 1

Race report by Mustafa ALP

On 5-6th of May we had our first round of Turkish EP Nationals, in cooperation with Cyprus team, at Team-NCRC arena. I arrived at the track and joined to the team on Saturday just before the free practises. My car was ready with the setup from last asphalt race, to see how it would react. After free and controlled practises, I opted for my basic carpet setup, which again worked really well. I made little changes about tire prep to have a smoother car, and car was perfect to my driving afterwards. Serdar Aytemiz was trying really different setups, and I was always shocked when hearing what he had done to his car… At the end of controlled practises, results were like this:

1 ALP MUSTAFA SERPENT TURKEY 3 0:34.323 6 [4, 1, 5, 3, 2]
2 AYTEMIZ SERDAR SERPENT TURKEY 3 0:35.718 4 [6, 5, 3, 2, 1]
3 DENIZ NIYAZI DENIZ PLAZA RC TEAM 3 0:36.385 5 [6, 1, 2, 4, 3]
4 AKBER AHMET DENIZ PLAZA RC TEAM 3 0:36.658 5 [2, 6, 4, 1, 3]
5 CAGLIOGLU FERHAT DENIZ PLAZA RC TEAM 3 0:36.806 5 [6, 2, 3, 4, 1]
6 TURKAY BARIS TEAM NCRC 3 0:37.174 3 [6, 5, 2, 4, 1]
7 BEYSUN BEHZAT DENIZ PLAZA RC TEAM 3 0:37.344 4 [3, 5, 6, 2, 1]
8 SOYLU YAVUZ SERPENT TURKEY 3 0:37.789 2 [6, 4, 5, 1, 3]
9 OZTUMEN UMUT 3 0:38.984 6 [5, 3, 4, 2, 1]
10 TABAK MEHMET 3 0:39.071

On qualifiers I was at the top of the timesheets again followed by Serdar. Yavuz claimed the final grid of the main final, starting from 10th position. Çağhan Turna, who had the pace for top 10, had nightmarish qualifiers and ended up starting from pole of the C final.

In finals I kept calm and won all 3 from start to finish. Real battle was between Serdar and Ahmet, they both had one 2nd and one 3rd in first two finals with a really close race. In 3rd final, Ahmet had the 2nd position and Serdar had to settle to 3rd.

In C final Caghan, who is now powered by Orca, dominated the finals and took a convincing win, showing that he would have a good shot at A main.

Serdar report:
Race report for the last weekends race
This is the first year EP and GP are being run as a seperate Championship series.  There series consists of 4 races and the 1st one was held in Cyprus.  So with great anticipation and excitement I got on board our flight with other racers and headed for the wonderful carpet track at NCRC Arena.
The weather was just beautiful with around 23 to 28 degrees out side and slightly higher indoor.  The wonderful team at NCRC made a new layout for this event which was very fast with high speed direction changes.  After looking at the track I decided that the setup we had in the first race will be too sluggish I opted for a setup that I wanted to try for a long time.  I installed the new steering bellcrank with aluminium knuckles.  at first I used the A% body but it made the car very nervous so opted for the mazda 6.  I had some issues during the practice day but in the end I managed to secure 2nd spot for the qualification day.
Qualification was quite eventfull for me.  I manage to run the first qualification perfectly fine but in 2 consecutive races I lost my wheel.  apperantly the center of the wheel wore out and I didnt noticed.  and one other I had issues.  the last qualification I managed to run a 25 lap and that place me in 2nd spot for the A-Final behind Mustafa Alp’s S411 who was running low 26 laps.
We basically knew if nothing went wrong Mustafa was going to take 1st spot.  so we were all gunning for second spot.  The first race I finished 2nd and Ahmet finish 3rd, then next race Ahmet finished 2nd and I finished 3rd.  So everyone was waiting for the 3rd round as the 4th and 5th place runners were also looking at the 3rd spot if me or Ahmet dropped had a chance as the podium.  First corner I got tapped and was in tenth spot :)  after that I couldnt make up the time.  So I had to settle for 3rd spot.
it was a great season starter and looking forward to other series races now.

UISP Italian EP Nationals Round 2 – 29-Apr-2012 – Telgate

Modify Class
Friday & Saturday Free Practice

Traduci da: italiano

From the first run, car was fast and consistent, both in  technical and fast  sections.
Time laps was close to other two fast drivers Martini and Menicucci

Sunday Qualify and Race

Qualify
Day began with very cloudy sky, and starts to rain just few minutes before quali N.1, so the first two qualifying was very difficult and i finish in 5 and 4th position. In the last one, track’s back dry and i close in 2nd position, 0.6 sec. behind pole sitter.

Finals
Starting from 3rd, first final i drove easy and constant and i close in same position

In second final, i had a mistake on the start and i dropped in 10th, but in the last three laps i take the second position.

Last final starts bad , i made a little mistake in second lap and i lost the leader; i close 2nd without forcing because leader was too far.

Maybe i had to test anti-dive because track was very bumpy, but car was so good and gives the right feeling from first run.

Race Report

Last weekend saw the first round of PEMKAR series race held at the Youth Center in the capital of Brunei. This was the most anticipated series race in the region, some 30 racers joined the premier class which was Open MOD class. The track was an indoor carpet with combination of fast and technical lay out.

In qualifying rounds, Wirawan a Serpent S411 driver easily took TQ position after topping every round and the only one that managed to post a 30 lappers run.

As expected, in the finals, Wirawan with his Serpent S411 dominated the scene easily by winning Finals leg 1 and 2, straight away making him the champion for this round of series race. He reported that his S411 was very easy to drive fast and consistent. He was really happy for the performance of his S411.

Latvia – Estonia: Jörg Miikael Tiit reports

Report of offroad race:

Class: 1/8 nitro buggy

It was 1st race of Latvian offroad summerseries. Race was held in Latvia, at Kangarnieki offroad track at 21 May. Track was VERY bumpy. Drivers: 30

Trainings:
Trainings were hard, car was new, last offroad race was in September, so everyting was like new for me. We went to the track with factory setup, and car was working almost fine. Only problem was that the back end was littlebit bumpy, we changed oils and springs of the back shocks and car was working fine.

Qulifiers:
3 qualifiers, 2 were counted. In the 1st qualifier, glowplug died, so I didn’t drive the first one. In the 2nd qual, there was a big mess, nobody didn’t know when the start was, so I came to pit at the 1st lap, and lost many seconds, bad luck. In the last qual, car and engine were working, no problems at all and I did 4th time of the day. So, overall 11th place after quals. That meant 6th starting place in the ½ final…

Finals:
Start of the ½ final. Race time: 15 minutes. There was a big hole at the end of the main straight, so I did mistake at the first lap… And I was at the last place, but after few minutes I was 3rd or something. Refueling stop was fast and it was last minute, I was 2nd, and then the engine died at the last lap. We don’t know why, it wasn’t a flameout, so last lap was very long but now I was lucky, got 6th place from that final, last place to get into the final  So, 9th starting place in the A-main
Final length: 30 minutes. Start was hard, lots of crashing and I lost some places, I also did some mistakes at the beginning, so start was hard… But I found driving rythm and after some minutes I was 4th or 5th, some more minutes ( first pitstop was done) and I saw leader car, did overtake and I took the lead. I was faster than others, so all I needed to do was clean driving, that’s what I did and catched up 2nd place with lap. Some minutes before finish I did some mistakes again, but I had big lead, so, it wasn’t big problem 

Report of onroad race

EAMK 7th race of winter series. Saue track, Estonia. Date: 22 May Race was very little, only 6 drivers in modified

Class: 1/10 modified

Trainings:
Track was easy, but quite fast. There were some tricky corners butstill, it was easy to learn. Grip was quite low, but we already had right setup, so car was good  I was fastest in the trainings

Qualifiers:
3 qualifiers, system: Best time of the day
I was faster than the others, so, I did a lap more than 2nd guy. I was improving after every race and did 0.5 seconds faster laptimes than the others. Qualifiers were easy, so 1st starting position in A-main

Finals:
Finals were easy again, I won all of them with big gap, driving was stable and fast, car was great and the grip was higher than in the trainings. So, easy day for us

Thanks for the support 

  • Hi, report of ETS race

Race was in Poland,Poznan, track was big, quite fast and had medium grip. There was 72 drivers in modified. It was our first time at the Ets race, so we were in the slowest practice group. At the beginning we had some setup problems, but we solved them. There was 4 practices, and in the 2 last they took time to make regroups for the qualifiers. We had radio problems in the 2 last ones, so we got almost the slowest qual group. Driving there was hard, I was much faster than the others, and I had to do overtakes at every lap and I lost many seconds there, but I could still do 2 laps more than others in my group in5 minutes. Finally I got some okay runs and placed 38th after 4th qual. Last, 5th qual was also okay, but i lost some seconds at the last laps, because I had to do some overtakes again. 3 guys from other groups got great runs, and I placed 41 wich was 1st starting position in E final, so, there wasn’t chance to get better place than 41. Finals were quite easy, I was again much faster, and my times were good enough to be at the 3rd or 4th position in the C main. So, win of E main and 41th place overall, could be better, but it wasn’t bad, because it was our 1st big race with onroad car.

Serpent S411 TQ’s Opening Round of Schumacher BTCC

Serpent factory driver Chris Kerswell made an impressive start to his 2012 outdoor campaign last weekend by taking TQ honours at the opening round of the popular Schumacher BTCC series at the Cotswold Model Car Club.

The BTCC runs in parallel to the BRCA nationals, with each of its rounds running at the same tracks 2-3 weeks before the national rounds. As a result, many drivers use the BTCC as a warm up series, enabling them to get much needed track time in high grip conditions.

The meeting was hampered somewhat by changeable weather, but all competitors got at least two dry qualifying runs. The rain arrived mid-way through the third and final qualifying round, meaning that drivers in the higher heats had a wasted run. Therefore, TQ in the 10.5 class fell to Chris Kerswell, who’s round 2 time put his LRP powered Serpent on pole position ahead of the Schumacher’s of Chris Grainger and Matt White and the Associated of Olly Jefferies.

The track remained wet for the first round of finals in which Chris Grainger took a commanding lead and a comfortable victory. White and Jefferies  completed the top-3 with pole-sitter Kerswell dropping down to 4th.

Kerswell fared better in Leg 2 of the A final and he led the race until the half way stage, when a small mistake allowed Chris Grainger to pass him into a hairpin. These two had a comfortable gap to third placed Matt White so cruised to the finish, with the overall placings being as they finished in leg 2.

13.5 class

“In the 13.5 class Rob Sawell won the A final from 4th on the grid with his LRP powered Serpent ahead of Mark Musgrove and Damian Giddins, both driving Schumachers. Zak Finlay TQ’d the class but was unable to finish on the podium.”

The first round of the BRCA Clubmans Nationals took place at West London Racing Centre at the weekend. The clubmans nationals are a series of one day events for 13.5 and 17.5 stock classes and are primarily aimed as a stepping stone for drivers wishing to progress from club to national level competition. It is hoped that information and advice will be cascaded from experienced drivers down to younger and less experienced competitors, who may even be competing at national level for the first time.
