Hungary: Serpent takes Hungarian Onroad Championships Rd1

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012
The opening round of the Hungarian Onroad Championships took place in Pecs on Easter weekend. The club which is the biggiest and most active onroad club in Hungary prepared the track nicely for this event but unfortunately it started to rain on Thursday and it seemed it will never going to stop. Finally it finished Sunday morning, just in time for the start of the qualifications. The conditions were difficult, the track was slippery while the temperature was super cold around 5°C and very windy.
The 1/10 200mm Stock category, which means mandatory stock engines (RB Concept Touring Junior or Novarossi N12T1) has been gaining popularity lately. The much reduced costs on engines and the more equal level of playing field makes this category a good option to start nitro onroad racing. It was Zsolt Pinter who TQ’ed and won the race easily. The race for the rest of the podium spots remained opened and changed several times during the final.
1. Zsolt Pinter – Serpent 733-TE / RB Concept TJ11
2. Peter Varsanyi – Mugen MTX-4 / RB Concept TJ11
3. Krisztian Gulyas – Sheperd V10 / Novarossi N12T1
In 1/10 category it was Gergely Cseko who set the pace early on. Starting from pole he set new track record for a single lap during the final. Thanks to this driving style he run out of fuel at the 10min mark but get back to the lead shortly after restarted and won the 30min final by 4 laps.
1. Gergely Cseko – Serpent 733-TE / RB Concept T11RC
2. Simon Ciudan – Sheperd V10 / Sonic V.12T
3. Gabor Laszlo – Xray NT1 / Novarossi Flash
In 1/8 category Tamas Hegedus was dominating the field and grabbed the number 1 starting position for the final. After the start he continously opened the gap but run into problems at around halftime. Then Gergo Timar took over the lead and never looked back and brought home the victory.
1. Gergo Timar – Serpent 966-TE / MAX XL9
2. Peter Kelbert – Sheperd V8 / Ninja
3. Jozsef Farkas – Kyosho Evolva / Novarossi Flash
So in the end it was a very successfull weekend and a perfect start of the season for the Hungarian Serpent team.

England: Green wins season opener in 1/8

Mark Green wins BRCA 1/8th season opener

The first round of the 2012 BRCA national championship was hosted by the Wombwell circuit in South Yorkshire. The entry for this circuit is normally low but since this is that start of a new season and with the section having more interest due to the impending 2013 European championships, the entry was around the 50 mark. During the off season, the committee have been busy trying to resolve the issue of tire additives which although we have procedures in place with regards to the policing for non use, further discussions will take place prior to the next round to agree a sensible solution for moving forward.
